The light in September
Why the end of summer may be the best time of all to be on the hill.

By September the heat has eased and the valley holds its mist a little longer each morning. From the terrace you watch it lift, field by field, until the hill towns appear one after another along the ridges.
The pool is still warm. The grapes are coming in. Evenings are long enough for dinner outside, and cool enough that you'll want the fire lit afterwards.
It is, we think, the month the house was built for.
